Geoff Muskett. Blog.

A personal scrapbook, where I post progress on current projects, scribbles, code snippets I've found useful, maybe a photograph or two, and anything else web / graphics / art that I find inspiring.

Hampsons of Hayle new site is live!
This was a great project, and extremely comprehensive from refreshing the branding, to photoshoots, to web layouts, to development.
A major aim of the site was to create a homepage that crushed stood out from the competition, clearly exhibited the main services Hampsons offer and any other key information. This information was identified as the butchery, pasties, meat products like sausages, and location.
They say a picture tells 1000 words, and I think that is true in this case - the homepage layout is geared towards showcasing Karl Mackie’s photography of the fantastic products Hampsons offer.
The four quadrants are fluid to a width of 2000px, which means on most monitors the page expands to fit the full width of the browser, giving maximum impact!
On an iPhone (android support coming soon), Media Queries cause the quadrants stack up, small copy is removed and links are enlarged for chubby fingers easier finger tapping. The photography still conveys the main services and location.
The ‘page’ template is fluid from 1000px to 1500px, meaning the pages don’t feel too small - or too big, no matter what the desktop or laptop browser size.
Really enjoyed this pasty fuelled project! And I certainly give Hampsons Butchers / Pasty makers my personal seal-of-approval, as a Cornish guy through and through I can honestly say they make the best pasties around!
